Mark Pera supporters to EARLY VOTE en masse on Wednesday

Mark Pera, Democratic candidate for Congress, and supporters from a number of constituent groups from Illinois' 3rd U.S. Congressional District - including Mexicanos for Political Progress (MXPP) - will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Daley Plaza and early vote across the street at the Cook County Building, 69 W. Washington St., Chicago.

The Pera campaign has attracted wide support in the Hispanic community because Pera believes that a comprehensive immigration reform package should include provisions to strengthen our borders, crack down on employers who take advantage of undocumented workers as well as a path to citizenship for those that are already here provided they pay a fine, learn English and go to the "back of the line" behind those already seeking citizenship.

Congressman Dan Lipinski voted in favor of the Sensenbrenner Bill (HR 4437), which would have made felons of undocumented immigrants and the police officers, firefighters, clergy and social service and hospital workers who work with the undocumented.

Fabian Morales, co-founder of MXPP, said Pera has a much better grasp of the issues facing the Hispanic community than Lipinski.

"[Pera] supports a path to citizenship and the DREAM Act which would allow undocumented high schools to continue their studies in college or join the military," he said.

A record number of people cast votes in the City of Chicago on the first day of early voting. More than 5,000 Chicagoans cast early votes on Monday, Jan. 14. In fact, over 1,200 3rd District Democrats have already cast their votes.

There are more than 51 voting locations in Chicago and 44 more in the Cook County suburbs. Registered voters with a photo ID can early vote through Jan. 31 and cast a ballot for their Presidential Democratic Primary and 3rd U.S. Congressional candidates.

El miércoles 23 de Enero a las 10:30 a.m. en frente de Daley Plaza, Mexicanos for Political Progress (MXPP) anunciara su apoyo al candidato por congresista en el 3 distrito congresional Mark Pera motivando a la comunidad a votar temprano y por Mark Pera.

Juan Salgado fundador de MXPP dice "Hace exactamente dos años el actual congresista del distrito 3, Dan Lipinski, voto por HR 4437 una ley que pretendía criminalizar a los inmigrantes indocumentados y toda persona que les ayude.  Solamente 36 demócratas en todo el país votaron a favor. Desgraciadamente, el congresista Dan Lipinski fue uno de ellos.  Al mismo tiempo el congresista Dan Lipinski no apoya una legalización para nuestros hermanos indocumentados o el DREAM Act para nuestros jóvenes.  Tenemos 35,000 votos Latinos en el distrito 3.  Debemos hacer todo lo posible para sacar esos votos y hacerle entender al congresista Dan Lipinski que faltarle el respeto a la comunidad Mexicana tiene consecuencias políticas".

Otro fundador de MXPP, Fabian Morales dice "Mark Pera es el mejor contrincante contra Dan Lipinski.  Mark Pera apoya la legalización de los inmigrantes con un camino a la ciudadan’a y el DREAM Act que dará solución a los jóvenes indocumentados que suenan con seguir sus estudios.  Además, Mark Pera esta en contra la guerra en Irak mientras que Dan Lipinski sigue apoyando al Presidente Bush incondicionalmente".

Aunque las elecciones no son hasta el 5 de Febrero no necesita esperar para hacer uso de su derecho.  Miembros de MXPP votaran temprano en el edificio del condado de Cook, 69 W. Washington Street, para poder hacer uso del 5 de Febrero sacando el voto Latino en favor de Mark Pera.  Existen m‡s de 51 localidades para votar temprano en Chicago y 44 en los suburbios del Condado de Cook.  Si estas registrado para votar tienes hasta el 31 de Enero para votar temprano.
